About IPED

We’re committed to providing high-quality continuing education conferences on topics such as affordable housing, community development, tax credits, renewable energy, and other areas of government-assisted development. Our instruction-based educational seminars are designed to serve many industries, including real estate development, accounting, law, government, management, energy, and financial services, such as lending and equity investment. Our faculty members are nationally recognized authorities in their fields, and their informed presentations are complemented by extensive practical experience. Thousands of executives and professionals from across the United States have attended IPED programs. All IPED conferences are eligible for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit.

Our History

Founded in 1975 by Charles Edson and Bruce Lane, the Institute for Professional and Executive Development, LLC (IPED) was created to promote affordable housing and community development throughout the United States, and to educate industry participants. Both are currently senior counsel at Nixon Peabody.

Continuing Education

For those attendees who request and sign up for CLE credit at our conferences, IPED LLC, an affiliate of Nixon Peabody LLP, will seek approval for continuing legal education credits as needed. IPED is an accredited provider of continuing legal education in CA, IL, NY, PA, and RI. Please fill out the continuing education forms at the registration desk if you need credits. State bar associations have the final authority on the acceptance of individual courses, and IPED will do everything to ensure that the requirements are met when seeking approval.

MCLE states determine CLE credit hours by dividing the running time of instructional programs by either 60 or 50 minutes. For example, a 90-minute program may earn 1.5 hours of CLE credit in a state that bases its credit on a 60-minute credit hour, and 1.8 hours in a state that bases its credit on a 50-minute credit hour. Some jurisdictions round down credit to the nearest 1/2 or 1/4 hour.

The following jurisdictions have a 60-minute credit hour: AK, AL, AZ, AR, CA, DE, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MN, MS, MT, NE, NC, ND, NH, NM, NV, OH, OR, PA, PR, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, and WY.

The following jurisdictions have a 50-minute credit hour: CO, FL, GU, MO, NJ, NY, OK, RI, VI, WV, and WI.

IPED LLC is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, 150 Fourth Avenue North, Suite 700, Nashville, TN, 37219-2417. IPED is not an accrediting body or regulatory agency, but a provider of continuing legal education. The content on this page is for informational and educational purposes only. CLE accreditation is given on a state-by-state basis. There is no nationwide accreditation since the MCLE programs are administered by the state supreme courts through a special CLE commission or board. Each state has its own rules and regulations that indicate what qualifies for CLE credit. Certain programs, subjects, and formats may not receive credit in some states, and there may be specific rules regarding who can earn credit, or the maximum number of credit hours that may be earned with specific formats. Please contact your state MCLE regulatory entity for specific questions about your MCLE rules. For more information on all states’ CLE rules and regulations, visit www.clereg.org.

Continuing education credit totals may be subject to change if the conference schedule changes due to canceled or added sessions. Continuing education requests will be processed within 30 days after the conference.
